HKUST 2028 SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE
HKUST strives to become a global sustainability leader by transforming the Clear Water Bay campus into a living laboratory for cutting-edge research and sustainable operations within our vibrant and engaged community.
This transition requires a hands-on learning environment where the campus itself is an important part of the learning process, where graduates are exceptionally prepared to solve pressing issues locally and globally, and where all members of the HKUST community contribute to this goal. The first HKUST sustainability master plan (2020 Sustainability Challenge) was launched in 2015 and began this transition. In 2020 the University leadership endorsed the HKUST 2028 Sustainability Challenge to build on the progress and set more ambitious goals and targets for 2028.
It is HKUST policy to ensure full transparency of data and progress for all areas of the 2028 Sustainability Challenge, including all key performance indicators (KPIs) and other measurable items. The most recent data is updated annually (or monthly where possible) on the Progress and Performance pages of this website.
