HKUST is dedicated to providing inclusive learning experiences and promoting educational equity, actively supporting students from diverse backgrounds andworking with local organizations to address educational disparities. We prioritize intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning through rigorous academic programs and state-of-the-art facilities. By leveraging innovation and interdisciplinary approaches, we aim to nurture the next generation of leaders to who will shape a better future.

Research
From 2018 to 2022, HKUST published 82 research papers related to quality education.
Our Center for Education Innovation (CEI) organized the 2022 Teaching and Learning Symposium - Rethinking Higher Education Models for Future-Proof Graduates which brought together scholars, educators, practitioners, industry leaders, and students to envision the future of education and co-create tomorrow’s education for future-proof graduates.
June 2022: Symposium keynote presentation By Prof. Jingshen Wu, HKUST(GZ): Transforming Education Pedagogy to Prepare Student for a Changing World
HKUST launched the Education and Generative AI (EDGE-AI) Fund to encourage the integration of generative AI tools into undergraduate curriculum. To further encourage experimentation in teaching methods, the Teaching and Learning Innovation Projects (TLIP) provides finding for innovations, such as the Life Cycle Thinking Board Game that incorporates gamification and game-based learning into teaching.
The Life Cycle Thinking Board Game simulates the end-to-end production processes of milk, where students strategize, practice and discuss how to balance commercial and environmental considerations when designing products in the future.
Community Education
Through the Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers (ABFYE), we engage high school learners with innovative and authentic engineering experiences ti inspire them to embrace an engineer's mindset. Students build resilient problem-solving skills and be empowered to think like engineers through a series of collaborative and student-directed projects.

HKUST Connect has actively engaged in community outreach initiatives to support public education. They collaborated with various organizations such as YMCA and NAAC TOUCH to provide English storytelling sessions for primary students from grassroots families and ethic minorities, enhancing their language skills and social interaction.
We also collaborated with the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society to offer a specialized education programme, Exploring Space with Kids, to teach space science to children from divorced or blended families, fostering interest and knowledge in astronomy. Additionally, volunteers also provided online tutoring and assistance with homework for students from low-income families, helping to bridge educational gaps.
April 2022: HKUST volunteers to tell English stories to the ethnic minority (EM) kids in primary school. During the service, volunteers picked interesting stories to instil positive behaviors and attitudes.
