HKUST and Swire Properties Limited Collaborates for Advancing Decarbonization Solutions and Research for Net-Zero Buildings
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (“HKUST”) joins hands with Swire Properties Limited (“Swire Properties”) to establish a cooperative framework accelerate the piloting and adoption of decarbonization solutions in the built environment. The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony on 10 Oct 2025, marking a milestone in cross-sectoral collaboration to advance decarbonization innovation in Hong Kong.
Under this collaboration, Swire Properties will bring deep industry expertise, resources, and practical insight. HKUST will contribute advanced research capabilities, potential pilot sites, and a spirit of learning and innovation.
Collectively developing and managing over 2 million square meters of building space in Hong Kong, HKUST and Swire Properties recognize that achieving net-zero requires collaboration but not isolation.
This partnership acknowledges the challenges inherent in the piloting of decarbonization solutions in the built environment. In recognition of these challenges, both parties aspire to leverage their respective expertise, resources and networks to accelerate the testing and adoption of innovative decarbonization solutions, while a fostering further research and development in this critical domain.
