Creativity Meets Sustainability: Highlights from L'OCCITANE's Impact Crafters 2025
In an exciting culmination of the Impact Crafters 2025 program, the L'OCCITANE Group hosted a final pitching presentation in January. Twenty shortlisted teams from five universities in Hong Kong— The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University—gathered to present their visionary concepts aimed at reimagining L'Occitane's MEGA (Make Earth Green Again) store and enhancing recycling of beauty empties and refill efforts.
L'Occitane en Provence has been committed to reducing waste. In partnership with the Hong Kong social enterprise V Cycle, they have launched the MEGA (Make Earth Green Again) Recycling Program to encourage eco-friendly shopping. Since the launch of the program in 2022, an impressive 2,300,000 beauty empties have successfully been recycled.
The Impact Crafters program began in September and provided participating students with a rich learning experience that included insightful lectures on sustainable business practices from industry experts, hands-on workshop to enhance skills in ideation and implementation, and opportunities for volunteering to connect with sustainability community staff. This framework allowed students to transform their sustainable business concepts into actionable solutions.
These 20 innovative teams were selected from a competitive pool of 70 proposals, showcasing a remarkable commitment to sustainability and creativity. They presented their forward-thinking solutions to a panel of judges comprising brand representatives, sustainability partners, university experts, and marketing professionals.
We are proud to announce that students from HKUST secured the top three positions at the final presentation event:
- Champion: Team 80 with the "Museum of Eco Elegance" presented by Jiayue Dang and Chunyue Joey Zheng
- First Runner-Up: Team 42 with "LOVE & RESPONSIBILITY" by AU Ka Yu and NG Wing Tung
- Second Runner-Ups: Team 52 with "Present Vert" by Ng Cheuk Wing and Cheung Tsz Ying, and Team 159 with "Megacy Project" by Federico Fidel Salim and Logan Alexander Limanardja
Congratulations to all the talented participants, especially Jiayue and Joey from HKUST on winning the championship! The champions will embark on a six-week internship at L'Occitane, where they will bring their innovative campaign to life for L'Occitane's MEGA in mid-March, accompanied by a cash prize of HKD 10,000!
We look forward to collaborating with the younger generation to create impactful changes for a more sustainable future.
