HKUST Sustainability team with the smART steps

FLEXIBLE WORK, FLEXIBLE SEATS

Flexible work schedules cut down on commuting time and give us more breathing room in our schedule, reducing the stress of often-conflicting demands of work, family, and self-care.   The chance to use flexible work options also allows us to to expand our team size while using our already existing space in a more efficient way through flexible seating. ADAPTIVE MOBILE WORKSTATIONS

Our office prioritizes ease of mobility and encourages movement by providing all staff with both laptops and ergonomic accessories. This feature allows us to work on a variety of tasks, from writing documents and emails to creating presentations and spreadsheets, while on-the-go and working where we are most focused and productive. ELIMINATING UNNECESSARY STORAGE BY GOING PAPERLESS

We are transiting to a paperless office by minimizing the use of paper. By using digital documents and files instead of paper, we eliminated the need for file cabinets, saving space and reducing clutter. Less paper is also more environmentally friendly. Click here for reference link.

REDUCE PLASTIC WASTE THROUGH POINT-OF-USE WATER COOLER

We have installed a point-of-use water cooler in our office for providing easy access to drink water. A point-of-use water cooler is a more environmentally friendly option than a traditional bottled cooler as it doesn’t require plastic bottles to refill the tank. By reducing the need for bottled water, plastic waste can be reduced, as well as all the associated production and transportation pollution. Click here for manufacturer information.
