Electronic Waste Recycling Day
9am- 4pm / 10am-4:30pm

Each year, Hong Kong households and corporates throw away more than 70,000 tonnes of waste computers and waste electrical and electronic equipment. Some of these items are still in good working condition and could be put to second-hand use. All of them contain components and materials that could be recovered for reuse and recycling, such as metals and plastics.

The Environmental Protection Department is developing the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Treatment and Recycling Facility at the EcoPark in Tuen Mun to be commissioned by mid-2017. It will have the capability to handle 30 000 tonnes of e-waste annually, turning it into resources after a series of detoxification, dismantling and recycling processes. EPD has awarded to ALBA Integrated Waste Solutions Hong Kong Limited (ALBA) the contract to build the plant and collect e-waste around Hong Kong.

HKUST is organizing the Electronic Waste Recycling Day this year with EPD E-waste collector. Join us and Recycle your E-waste!
